Worth
Worth's most famous and enduring creation
is Je Reviens. Ironically, Je Reviens, the most famous part
of the love poem, owed its success to war, not love. When
the Americans entered the second world war after Pearl Harbour,
Je Reviens became the perfume given by soldiers - from GI's
to generals - to their loved ones. An imaginative advertising
campaign in America translated Je Reviens as "I will
return".Je Reviens became the way to say "I love
you" and "I'll be back". It was a farewell
kiss which hundreds of thousands of American women never forgot
"A miraculous harmony of the most precious scents, strong
and fresh yet flowery and warm, it plays a woody major note
on a theme of narcissus, jasmine, jonquil and ylang-ylang
Designed by Rene Lalique, the original perfume bottle for
Je Reviens resembled a blue skyscraper. The bottle was strongly
architectural and far removed from the figural flacons of
nearly two decades earlier.
